Statewide “Point in Time” Count

The committee plans the events for the semi annual count of homeless persons on the streets and in shelter in our community. The purpose is not only to get a count of those who are homeless but also to provide services and information to those individuals and to be able to tell the story of those facing homelessness in our community. The committee members develop a resource connection meal for the night, determine the areas of the county to be covered, put together resource bags for those who are not in shelter and identify, recruit volunteers to participate in the count and report those who we come into contact with on these nights.

The counts occur the last Wednesday of January and July on a nationwide basis. The committee meets as needed about 6 weeks before each count.
