Mental Health Committee

The Mental Health Committee brings together emergency response systems, behavioral health providers, and housing partners to improve how our community responds to people in crisis.

Action Statement

This committee works to strengthen coordination between mental health, AODA (Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse), emergency services, and homeless response systems in Brown County. The focus is on identifying system barriers that impact individuals experiencing behavioral health crises and developing practical solutions that improve access, reduce duplication of services, and create faster pathways to care and housing.

Committee Focus

  • Improve coordination between emergency response, crisis services, and housing providers
  • Address system gaps affecting individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises
  • Strengthen warm handoffs between emergency departments, law enforcement, shelters, and treatment providers
  • Identify barriers to timely access to mental health and AODA services
  • Develop system-level solutions that improve outcomes for people in crisis

Our Goal

To create a more coordinated, responsive, and effective system that meets people where they are in crisis and connects them quickly to the right level of care, housing, and support without gaps or delays that lead to repeated crisis episodes or homelessness.
